I've excelled myself...

I don't really know what has come over me in the last couple of weeks but I really have been pushing the envelope with regard to foods...

I've always been a fussy eater and was a vegetarian for many years before coming to China. Since ceasing to be veggie I've eaten pork, beef, chicken and lamb and, pretty much nothing else animal-wise.

I don't know what made me change this but it started when I got a free lobster tail with some roast beef that I'd ordered. In the last two weeks I have deliberately eaten:

Lobster
Scallops
Shrimp
Garoupa
Ostrich
Deer
Cuttlefish
Fish roe
Crab

I have to say that the seafood didn't excite me at all, nor did it particularly put me off. The lobster tasted pretty much only of butter so I really can't see what the fuss is there.

I'll let you know when I eat my first frog and turtle...

On the odd occasion when my folks would have lobster, they would always tell my sister and I (eating mac & cheese) that we "had tried it once and didn't like it." Later we learned that we had been hoodwinked and that lobster was pretty damn good. Ma & Pa just didn't want to come up with the boodle for two more bugs. Ah, the ruse!

"the seafood didn't excite me at all"
- I think it's oysters that are meant to do that kind of thing...

I want to see or, rather, hear about you eating sea cucumbers. Odd things that lie along the Mozambique beaches where I grew up. Chinese men used to come collect them to export to China. I think they're meant to be an aphrodisiac. That must be it as they don't look at all appetising

It does seem to be Sea Cucumber (pretty aren't they season at the moment so I should try one while I'm on a roll.

The other sea-thing that's always intrigued me is the abalone, simply because the pictures of it cooked always appear, to me, a bit like a sea pork pie.
